Often, we feel the need to do everything perfectly, to get it right the first time. We fall into the perfection trap…and that trap can often snap shut on us in painful ways.
How many times have you not tried something new because you were afraid of getting it wrong? How many times have you walked away from an opportunity or a challenge because you were not sure you had “the right stuff”? How many times have you tried something, only to struggle, and walk away because you were not sure you would ever be productive? How many “diets” or “exercise plans” have you stopped after the first oops day?
That’s the perfection trap slamming shut. It causes the inability to see beyond our failure in that moment in order to realize that our oops does not not need to define our future progress or success. We forget that it is not about the perfect- it is about the effort. When we were babies first learning to walk we did not fall down the first time and refuse to get up. We got up off our bottoms and tried again, and again, and again until we finally were able to toddle across the room. Somehow as we age forget that part of ourselves that put in the effort and got up over and over again.
Reclaim that part of you! Treat each day as the new day it is, put in the effort and propel yourself forward towards the new identity you are growing into. Your transformation has already begun.
